Mary Jane Tritle, 87, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at the Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born April 30, 1926 in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late John L. and Mary J. Walterick Hanes. Mrs. Tritle was a 1944 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School and was employed early in her life at the former Hafer Ice and Cold Storage and the Stanley Company. A homemaker most of her life, she was a member of the Marion First United Methodist Church and the Jolly 60’s. Her hobbies included quilting, reading, embroidery, cooking for family meals, and going out for breakfast. Her husband, Charles E. Tritle, whom she married August 12, 1950, preceded her in death on September 28, 1996.
Surviving are three children, Karen Ott (husband Roger) of Chambersburg, Jeffrey Tritle (wife Debra) of Chambersburg, and Annette Rubeck (husband Dan) of Fayetteville; four grandchildren, Heather Lowe (husband Josh), Derek Pheil, and Emily Tritle, and Kayla Tritle; and a sister, Bonita Thomas (husband Bob) of Chambersburg. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Randall Hanes.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, May 25, 2013 at Marion First United Methodist Church with Rev. Christopher Renner officiating. Private interment will be at Parklawns Memorial Gardens.
