Mary Rhoda Byers Keller, a resident of Rodgers’ Personal Care Home died on Tuesday July 2, 2013. Born June 9, 1918 in Letterkenny Township, she was the daughter of the late Enos and Mabel (Myers) Byers. She lived all of her life in the Chambersburg area.
As a young person, Rhoda was employed at the former Shirt Craft Factory in Shippensburg. Most of her life, she and her husband Glenn E. Keller farmed. She was last employed by Wheelock Hatchery, Chambersburg.
She is survived by the following siblings; Abaram Byers, Mabel G. Byers-Kissinger and H. Preston Byers; two daughters, Darlene, wife of Dale Hostetter, of State Line, PA and Arlene, wife of David Burkholder of Chambersburg, PA; two grandchildren, Heather Burkholder and Chad Burkholder and a great-granddaughter, Kaylee Herrington, all of Chambersburg. In addition to her parents, Rhoda was preceded in death by her husband Glenn in November 1999. She was also preceded in death by an infant son, Donald Lee Keller; 4 brothers, Paul M., Samuel, Enos, Jr. and Norman Byers; and 3 sisters, Ethel Byers-Dice, Ruth Byers and Elsie Byers-Keefer.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Saturday, July 6, 2013 at New Guilford Brethren In Christ Church, 1575 Mont Alto Road, Chambersburg, PA with The Rev. Dr. Robert Verno officiating. Interment will follow in Air Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 9:00 PM Friday at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
