Mary Lou (McRitchie) Jessen, 94, of Chambersburg, PA passed away Thursday, March 9, 2023 in Menno Haven. Born April 24, 1928 in Lacarne, OH, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Marie (Libben) McRitchie.
She was a graduate of Port Clinton High School with the Class of 1946. Mary Lou was employed at Standard Products Company and Erie Ordnance Depot of Port Clinton, OH. After raising her children she was employed at Bonton formerly Eyerly’s and Margred’s Bridal Shop, Chambersburg.
She was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Chambersburg where she was part of the A.J. White Hutton Sunday School Class and the Women of the Evangelical Church of America. Mary Lou was a member of Child Guidance Council, the Chambersburg Hospital Auxiliary and Menno Haven Auxiliary. She also volunteered at the Chambersburg Hospital, Menno Haven and delivering Meals on Wheels.
In addition to her parents, Mary Lou was predeceased by her husband, Richard who passed away in 2013 and her sister Helen Cover. Surviving are her son, David Jessen (Sheila), two daughters, Barbara Reesey (Fred) and Susan Rote (Lance); seven grandchildren Meredith Jessen, Tyler Reesey (Vero), Emily Stafford (Patrick), Katelyn Miller (Colby), Kelci Depner (Greg), Amanda Jessen, and Taylor Rote; four great-grandchildren, Nick Reesey, Maddie Stafford, Trey Depner and Jack Stafford; and a number of nieces and nephews who were very special to her.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, March 13, 2023 in Lincoln Cemetery, with Rev. Jane Nicholson officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Menno Haven Benevolent Fund, 2011 Scotland Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
