Mary E. McClure

Mary E. McClure, 79, of Chambersburg, PA passed away Saturday, July 27, 2024 in the Mercy House of Chambersburg. Born December 24, 1944 in Orrstown, PA she was the daughter of the late Herbert S. and Anna E. (Chestnut) Weaver.

She was a graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School with the Class of 1964. Mary began her career as a bank teller with Mechanics Building and Loan Bank which later became First Federal. She was a receptionist for Snyder Associates CPA Firm. She worked at the Carlisle Hospital ER in admissions and finally ended her career at the Chambersburg Hospital in outpatient admissions. 

Mary was a member and Past Matron of Martha Custis Chapter #342 Order of the Eastern Star, member and past president of Circle of Friends and AARP Franklin County Chapter, member of Tall Cedars Lebanon #145 Cedarettes and the local Red Hat Society. She also attended Lurgan United Brethren Church.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, David W. McClure who she married December 19, 1964; daughter, Dawn (McClure) Johnson and her husband Tony; grandson, Aaron Johnson and his wife Shayna (Harbaugh); a sister, Janet Zeger and her husband H. David; and several nieces and nephews.

Everyone is welcome to attend an Eastern Star Service that will be conducted by members of the Martha Custis Chapter # 342 at 5:00 PM Sunday, August 4, 2024, at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. The family will receive friends following the service from 6:00-8:00 PM. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, August 5, 2024 in Lurgan United Brethren Church, 7900 Roxbury Rd, Shippensburg, PA 17257 with Pastors Art Page, Stan McCammon, and Joe Thomas officiating. The family will also receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hall Cemetery.
