Mary Patterson

Mary Jane Patterson, age 89, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Monday, February 22, 2016, in Menno Haven. Born February 18, 1927, in Chambersburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late William and Myrtle Lockbaum Grove.
Mrs. Patterson was a 1945 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School. Mrs. Patterson worked for the Chambersburg Area School District as a secretary in the business office for 25 years, retiring in 1990. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran church. She enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles, reading, volunteering at church, and making a home for her family.
Surviving is her husband of 67 years, Edwin Patterson, whom she married on June 27, 1948; her daughter, Barbara J. Woods (husband Greg) of Chambersburg, PA; two grandchildren, Eric Woods of Chambersburg and Greg Woods, Jr. (wife Lindsay) of Mercersburg, PA; and two great-grandchildren, Ashley and Dylan Woods. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Lee Grove.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 26, 2016, at 11 AM at First Lutheran Evangelical Church, 43 W. Washington St., Chambersburg, PA; where Rev. Herb Spomer will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church parlor. Interment will follow the service in Norland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 5051 Letterkenny Rd., West, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
