Mary Perry

Mary Jane Perry, 73, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2016. Born April 28, 1943, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Melvin and Genevieve (Sackman) Thomas.

Mary was a graduate of the Chambersburg Area Senior High School. She was happily married to Ronald L. Perry Sr., the boy next door, for 57 years. She was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in Greenvillage and worked at the former Stanley Company in Chambersburg until her retirement. Mary was community minded and instrumental in starting the Greenvillage Youth League in 1977. She Loved volunteering with Toys-for-Tots and was an honorary member of the Landis-McCleaf Marine Corps League auxiliary. She was a past president of the Franklin County Republican Women and past vice-chair of Green/Guilford Republicans committee. In her free time she was an avid Bingo player and enjoyed frequenting dinner theaters, watching game shows on TV and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Ronald L. Perry, Sr. of Chambersburg, PA, she is survived by her three children, Tammy J. Wiley and husband Jeffrey of Chambersburg PA, Ronald L. Perry, Jr. of Fayetteville PA, and John W. Perry and wife Susan of Chambersburg PA; five grandchildren, Wade Wiley, Trayer Wiley, Hannah Wiley Diehl, Mia Perry, and Chase Perry; three great-grandchildren, Hailey Diehl, Morgan Diehl, and Wesley Diehl. Mary is also survived by a brother, Ted Thomas and wife Darlene of Mechanicsburg, PA and by her very dear sister-in-law, Delores Sollenberger Campbell of Chambersburg.
Mary was preceded in death by 4 sisters; Patricia Gross, Thelma Thomas Carbaugh, Margaret Thomas McCleary, and Nellie Thomas Hawbaker.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2016, at 1 PM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA; where Rev. Dr. Charles Naylor will officiate. The family will receive friends in the funeral home on Wednesday, October 19, 2016, from 6 – 8 PM and one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Norland Cemetery. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Toys-for-Tots, The Cooper Center, 18251 Quantico Gateway Drive, Triangle, VA 22172-1776 or Pleasant Hall Fire Company, 9722 Cumberland Highway Pleasant Hall, PA 17246.
