Mary Shade

Mary L. “Louise” Shade, age 90, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2019, at Penn Hall Nursing Center. Born April 27, 1928, in New Franklin, PA, she was the daughter of the late Robert Hamilton Kline, Sr. and Fannie E. Peirce Kline.
Mrs. Shade worked in housekeeping for a number of years, at Menno Haven, where she later retired. She was a member of Grand Point Church, where she was a Sunday School Teacher and involved in many aspects of the church, Senior Life Camp, and the Women’s Christian Social Council. She also served as a Girl Scout leader for many years.
Surviving are two children, Mary E. Pearson (husband Edward) of Shippensburg, PA and Glenn “Ed” Shade, Jr. of Chambersburg, PA and two grandchildren, Allison K. Shade and Scott Isaiah Pearson (wife Kristi). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn E. Shade, Sr. in 2014 and six siblings.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 25, 2019, at 11 AM at Grand Point Church, 2230 Grand Point Rd, Chambersburg, PA 17202, where Pastor Phil Steele will officiate. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 24, 2019; from 6 – 8 PM in the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA and one hour prior to the service at the above church and address. Interment will follow the service in Gipe’s Grove Cemetery.
