Mary Shaffer

Mary F. Shaffer, age 81, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away at the Shippensburg Healthcare Center on Tuesday, April 2, 2024. Born May 12, 1942, in Chambersburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Gordon D. and Mary Stoner Beaston.
Mrs. Shaffer worked as a chef at the former Manor Care in Chambersburg for 29 years, retiring in 2005. Mrs. Shaffer enjoyed watching the Washington Commanders and playing bingo.
Surviving is her beloved husband of 64 years, Ralph M. Shaffer, whom she married on October 26, 1959, a son, Melvin Shaffer (Gary) of Mechanicsburg, PA. Mrs. Shaffer is also survived by her fur baby, Buckey Bear; grand fur babies, Miss Kitty and Buster Brown: brother, Shane Carlin of York, PA; sister-in-law, Leah (Dan) Kipe of Chambersburg, PA; bother-in law, David (Bub) Shaffer of Waynesboro, PA; sister in-law, Donna Kaye (Frank) Hobbs of Marion, PA; bother-in-law, Roger Shaffer of Chambersburg, PA; and sisters-in-law, Kathleen and Irene Beaston; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Mrs. Shaffer was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Shirley (Ralph) Foor; brothers, Roger and John Beaston, and Nick Carlin.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Shippensburg Healthcare Center for their outstanding care during Mrs. Shaffer’s stay.
Cryptside services will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 11 AM at Parklawns Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Chambersburg, PA, where Rev. Fr. Matthew Smith will officiate.
