Mary Stone

Mary Jane Stone, age 93, of Greencastle, PA, passed away on Sunday, November 25, 2018, at her daughter’s home in Greencastle. Born September 23, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Mark H. and Emily Dubbs Snider.
A 1943 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School, Mrs. Stone went on to study at the former Shippensburg State College for 2 years. She began her career as a Librarian at Letterkenny Army Depot, where she retired in 1980 after 35 years of service. Mrs. Stone served as a Sunday School teacher at St. John’s United Methodist Church for over 50 years. She also helped in starting the Library at the church. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and reading.
Surviving are two daughters, Hope Inch (husband James) of Chambersburg, PA and Faith Mack (husband James) of Greencastle, PA; six grandchildren, Chad Inch (wife Jessica) of Richmond, VA, Charles L. Inch of Richmond, VA, Rachel Nowell (husband Justin) of Greencastle, PA, Theodore Inch (wife Brooke) of Richmond, VA, Sarah Smith (husband Chad) of Chambersburg, PA, and Jonathon Mack of Greencastle, PA; and six great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Leroy Stone in 1977 and two brothers, Paul and M. Alvin Snider.
Private graveside services will be held on Monday, December 3, 2018, at 2 PM in Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg, PA, where Rev. Ray Kauffman will officiate. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 16, 2018, at 2 PM at St. John’s United Methodist Church, 3001 Warm Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA, where Rev. Hannah Pratt Sledge will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the above church and address.
