Mary Wenger

Mary M. Wenger, 93, formerly of Chambersburg, passed away at 3:55 AM Saturday, March 05, 2011 at The Bridges at Bent Creek in Mechanicsburg. Born February 6, 1918 in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late Maurice and Martha Sollenberger Mentzer. Mary had been employed as a seamstress at the former Stanley Company in Chambersburg and she and her husband owned and operated a dairy farm in the Edenville area for many years. She was a member of the Chambersburg Brethren in Christ Church and taught Sunday School there for many years. Her beloved husband, Lester W. Wenger, preceded her in death on December 6, 2002.

She is survived by four sons, Ronald M. Wenger and wife Ida Marie, Kenneth L. Wenger and wife Mary, all of Mechanicsburg, L. David Wenger and wife Shirley of Millersville, and Ray C. Wenger and wife Brenda of Mt. Vernon, GA; six grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by seven sisters, Susan Witmer of Hagerstown, MD, Fannie Diller of Orlando, FL, Alma Hock of Shippensburg, PA, Catherine Frey and Marion Frey, both of Chambersburg, Lois Kipe of Waynesboro, PA, and Sara Diller of Big Fork, MT; and two brothers, Ben Mentzer of Duncannon, PA and J. Allen Mentzer of Fayetteville, PA; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Keller.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at Air Hill Brethren in Christ Church, 7041 Cumberland Highway, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Kenneth Hepner will officiate. Burial will be in Air Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 8:30 AM – 10:00 AM Wednesday at the church.
