Matthew Elgin

Matthew Joseph Elgin, 43, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Saturday, August 9, 2014 at his home. Born August 7, 1971 in Newport, Rhode Island, he was a son of William Joseph Elgin of Waynesboro and the late Susan Blocher Elgin who passed away on February 16, 2003. Matt attended Shippensburg University and with his brother owned and operated Conserco in Waynesboro, PA. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, running and biking. Matt was a member of the Cumberland Valley Athletic Club, the Chambersburg Road Runners Club, and Over Achieve Fitness.

In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Angela Walker Elgin, whom he married July 13, 1996; his son, Matthew Elgin; his daughter, Sera Elgin; two brothers, William T. Elgin and wife Rebecca of Greencastle and Samuel A. Matson of Greencastle; two sisters, Michelle M. Russell and husband Dan of Waynesboro and Joy L. Rideout and husband Mike of San Diego; paternal grandparents William and Rebecca Elgin; a number of nieces and nephews; and his step-mother, Carolyn Elgin of Waynesboro.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 16, 2014 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. The family will receive friends from 9:00-11:00 AM Saturday at the funeral home.
