Max H. Benedict, 82, of Chambersburg, PA, died Sunday morning, December 20, 2015 at his home. Born August 30, 1933 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Glenn and Pearl Helman Benedict. He served with the US Army during the Korean War and retired from Letterkenny Army Depot with 29 years of service. Following his retirement he was employed part-time by the Chambersburg Area School District for 10 years. He was a member of Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW, Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion, and the Marine Corps League, all in Chambersburg. Max was an avid golfer.
He is survived by his wife, Connie E. Carmack Benedict, whom he married July 3, 1954; six brothers, Wayne Benedict and wife Donna of Chambersburg, Lee Benedict and wife Ruth of Indiana, Fred Benedict and wife Joan of Indiana, Mickey Benedict and wife Brenda of Chambersburg, Ray Benedict and wife Janet of Chambersburg, and Nelson Benedict and wife Karen of Shippensburg; three sisters, Ruth Sommerville of Chambersburg, Margie Diller and husband John of Chambersburg, and Ruby Wolf and husband Thad of Kansas; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Glenn Benedict, Jr. and a sister, Judy Kinzie.
Services and interment will be private.
