Max E. Goshorn, age 79 of Fayetteville, PA passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at his home. Born January 10, 1934 in Blairs Mills, PA, he was the son of the late Edgar E. and Eva Fortney Goshorn.
A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars, Mr. Goshorn retired from the military in 1973 after 21 years of service. Following his discharge from the military he worked for several years at the former Hal Lowry Ford in Chambersburg and was then employed at Letterkenny Army Depot for 15 years. He later retired from Schaad Detective Agency, Inc., where he worked as a security guard. Mr. Goshorn was a member of the Abundant Life Chapel and his hobbies included hunting and fishing. His wife, Patricia Wood Goshorn, whom he married May 11, 1957, preceded him in death on February 20, 2013.
He is survived by four children, Eugene L. Goshorn of Chambersburg, Michael A. Goshorn (wife Kelly) of Purcellville, VA, Eva R. Tosten (husband Joseph III) of Chambersburg, and Timothy L. Goshorn of Chambersburg; five grandchildren; two brothers Harry Goshorn and Emmitt Goshorn, both of Blairs Mills; and a sister, Janet Fleagle of Doylesburg, PA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, March 29, 2013 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road Chambersburg, PA with Revs. Sam and Nancy Myers officiating. The family will receive friends from 7-9:00 PM Thursday and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home. Member of the Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW Honor Guard will conduct military honors immediately following the service. Interment will be private.
