Maxine H. “Sis” Cleary, 83, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Tuesday morning, May 19, 2015 at her home. Born December 22, 1931 in Richmond Furnace, PA, she was a daughter of the late Earl and Hazel Rohrbaugh Woodal. She was employed for forty years at the former Stanley Company in Chambersburg. Mrs. Cleary was of the Protestant faith. She was a member of Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW Ladies Auxiliary and loved spending time playing Bingo and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. Her husband, John M. Cleary, preceded her in death on September 24, 1985.
She is survived by six children, John E. Cleary (wife Barbara), Trudy Monn, Robin Terry, Bonita “Sue” Cross, James P. Cleary (wife Angela), all of Chambersburg, and George Q. Cleary of Shippensburg; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Doris Truett of Chambersburg; and two brothers, Charles “Ed” and Larry R. Woodal, both of Chambersburg. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Earl M. “Sonny” Cleary; a granddaughter, Katina Miller; a son-in-law, Tony Cross; a daughter-in-law, Mary Cleary; and four brothers, James, Eugene, Don, and Paul Woodal.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, May 27, 2015 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA with Pastor Carroll Cool officiating. Interment will follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 PM Tuesday and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
