Maxine C. Bingaman Walker, 71, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Monday, April 9, 2018 at her home. Born December 26, 1946 in Greencastle, she was a daughter of the late George A. and Mary Grace Rice Bingaman. She was a 1965 graduate of the James Buchanan High School. A homemaker most of her life she had at one time been employed as a receptionist with Copenhaver Real Estate and had worked at F&M Bank in Hagerstown and at Mundy Jewelers. She attended King Street United Brethren Church and the Foundation Sunday School Class. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren; going to lunch with her friends; attending teas; and she loved flowers. Her husband, William Kennedy Walker, III, whom she married October 25, 1968, preceded her in death on October 5, 2014.
She is survived by two daughters, Kate Thomas (Tommy) of Cary, NC and Angela Elgin of Chambersburg; four grandchildren Owen Brotman, Rhys Thomas, Matthew Kennedy Walker; and Sera Elgin; four sisters, Thelma Starliper of Mercersburg, Elizabeth Sharon, Doris Barnhart, and Janet Helman all of Chambersburg; three brothers, George Bingaman of Chambersburg, Leonard Bingaman of Hustontown, and Raymond Bingaman of Del Ray, WV; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by three sisters, Cora Mills, Miriam Poole, and Helen Myers; a brother Paul Bingaman; and infant brother Charles Bingaman; and her son-in-law, Matthew J. Elgin.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, April 13, 2018 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Ronald Cook will officiate. Interment will follow at Lincoln Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:00-10:00 AM Friday at the funeral home.
