Melba E. High, age 96, of Chambersburg, passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Manor Care Health Services. Born March 3, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Nancy V. Shatzer Shuman. Her loving husband, Ralph C. High, preceded her in death on October 13, 2000.
Mrs. High spent most of her life as a homemaker. She also worked for a period of time at Stanley Co. as a press operator. She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Greenvillage.
She is survived by two grandchildren, Shawnee Clayberg and husband John of Chambersburg, and Joseph Appenzellar of Charlottesville, VA; three great-grandchildren, David Clayberg of Chambersburg, Matthew Clayberg and wife Kimberly of Waynesboro, and Cody Appenzellar of VA; and two great-grandchildren, Xavier and Landon Clayberg. Aside from her parents and husband, Melba was preceded in death by a her daughter, Phyllis Appenzellar
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 5878 Greenvillage Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Mr. Richard Vanderau will officiate. Interment will be private. Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA.
