Melissa A. Brumfield, age 31, of Chambersburg, died unexpectedly on Saturday, May 21, 2011 in the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, as a result of an aortic aneurysm. Born on September 4, 1979 in Philipsburg, PA, she was a daughter of Tom and Sue Braniff of Chambersburg.
A 1997 graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School, Melissa also attended Shippensburg University. She has been employed with the Chambersburg Wal Mart pharmacy, for the past 15 years, currently a department manager. She was arguably the #1 Fan of the Chambersburg Cardinals Football Team, where she served in many roles, including the “Team Mom” and part-time water girl.
Aside from her parents, she is survived by her husband, Joseph Brumfield; son Joseph T. Brumfield; brother, Chad Braniff (and fiancé, Karie Kirchoff), all of Chambersburg; maternal grandparents, Robert and Betty Bloom of Coalport, PA; mother-in-law, Minda McDonald of New Orleans; and sisters-in-law, Emma Brumfield of New Orleans and Catrice Brumfield of Florida. She was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Clifford and Grace Braniff of Coalport. She will also be greatly missed by her beloved dog, Bugsey.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 in the chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road Chambersburg, with Mr. Gordy Schlotter and Mr. Mike Coles officiating. The family will welcome friends in the funeral home from 6-9 PM on Monday, and from 10-11 AM on Tuesday.
