Melvin E. “Big Ed” Eshelman, 71, of Marion, passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2016 in Hershey Medical Center. Born April 13, 1944 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Melvin G. Eshelman and Dorothy Martin Everett.
Ed was a graduate of CASHS. He was employed with the former Pennsylvania Railroad, Conrail, and currently Norfolk Southern Railroad as a Yardmaster for 54 years. He was a member of the Marine Corps League and the Chambersburg Club. Ed enjoyed bowling, speed boating in WV, buying classic cars, and vacationing in Cape May, NJ.
He is survived by two siblings, Beverly Graham of Chambersburg, and Byron (wife Betty) Eshelman of Greencastle; and his very special friends Charlie and Jackie Horst of Chambersburg.
A funeral service to honor Ed’s life will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Rev. Gayle Ruble, Sr. will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Monday and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
