Melvin J. Piper, Jr., 93, of Chamberburg, died on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 in the Chambersburg Hospital. Born on March 19, 1927 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Melvin and Elouise Piper. He was the widower of Delores Fritz Piper, who preceded him in death on July 4, 2018.
Melvin attended Chambersburg Schools and served with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was the owner and operator of the former St. Clair’s Gas Station in Chambersburg. A Protestant, Melvin enjoyed country music, especially Johnny Cash, watching television and reading. Aside from his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by four siblings. He will be privately interred beside his wife, Delores, in Lincoln Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg, PA.
