Menno E. Landis, 90, of Chambersburg, passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born April 22, 1928 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Menno Landis, Sr. and Anna Mary Barkdoll Landis. His beloved wife, Virginia Barnhart Landis, preceded him in death on March 19, 2010.
Menno and Virginia had a farm in Maryland for nine years after which he worked for Pepsi Cola for 14 years as a Supervisor. In 1956 they moved to Chambersburg and operated the Tastee Freeze for five years. In 1971 he founded M.E. Landis Aluminum Products.
He was a member and served as Deacon of the Brethren Fellowship. He served on the Occupational Services Inc. board, was a charter member of the Hamilton Ruritan Club and served as President of Hamilton School Board. Menno enjoyed the fellowship of his friends on the golf course, meeting friends and family at local restaurants and the fellowship of friends and neighbors on his back porch.
He is survived by four children, Gene and his companion Phyllis Libby, of Fayetteville, Patti and Robbie Gable, Chambersburg, Connie and Luis Teissier, Houston, TX. and Michelle and Owen Myers, Marion, PA. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
He also has four siblings, Daniel and Joan Landis, Broomall, PA, Charlotte Martin, Chambersburg, Richard and Lois Landis, Mountville, PA, and Ray and Joyce Landis, Alberta Canada.
He is preceded in death by his wife, a son Richard and three siblings, Lois Keefer, Blanche Martin and Robert Landis.
His funeral will be held 10 AM Monday June 25th in the Chapel at the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home Inc. 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA. Burial will follow in Lincoln Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday June 24th from 5 – 7PM at the funeral home.
