Michael W. Delaney, 80, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away Sunday morning, January 10, 2021 at his home. Born December 19, 1940 in Indianapolis, Indiana, he was the son of the late Daniel Eugene and Virginia Mitchell Delaney. Michael was a graduate of Clearwater High School, Clearwater, FL and went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from the University of Florida. He served with the US Army National Guard. Michael worked as a sports writer for multiple newspapers and later in public relations for a number of companies including Goodyear and Amtrak. Prior to his retirement he enjoyed selling real estate while living in Florida. He loved playing golf and driving race cars. He was a ranked tennis player; was a car enthusiast; and a die-hard Florida Gator fan.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Whittaker Delaney, whom he married May 18, 1968; two daughters, Meghan Delaney of Hedgesville, WV and Aindrea Campbell and husband Rich of Greencastle, PA; two grandsons, Quentin and Brady Campbell; and two sisters, Diane Delaney and husband Don Lesh of Tempe, AZ and Debbie Robinson and husband Donnie of Clearwater, FL.
A memorial service to celebrate Michael’s life will be planned for later in the year.
