Michael W. Rutledge, 49, of Doylesburg, PA, died on Saturday, April 28, 2012 in the Chambersburg Hospital. Born on July 13, 1962 in Johnstown, PA, he was the son of Donald and Donna Rodkey Rutledge. A graduate of Johnstown Vo-Tech High School, Mike had most recently worked at Shriver Foods in Shippensburg, PA as a Line Leader and had previously worked at Volvo Construction. Mike was an avid gardener, enjoyed doing yard work, working on cars, wood working, drawing and was and amateur arborist.
In addition to his parents, Mike is survived by his wife of 10 years, Maggie Junkins Rutledge; five children, Jamie and Leah Rutledge of Johnstown, PA, Melinda and Amanda Hammond of Doylesburg, PA and Michael Hammond of Amberson, PA; a granddaughter, Taylor Thompson of Doylesburg, PA; eleven siblings, Tammy Myers, Paul Rutledge, Beth Pedrasky, Chris Rutledge, Richard Rutledge, Holly Rutledge, James Rutledge, John Rutledge, Brenda Rutledge, and Kim Weaver all of Johnstown, and Linda Rutledge of Norfolk, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mike is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Thomas and Florence Rutledge and maternal grandparents, James and Fern Rodkey.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at 7 PM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Rev. Megan Boozer will officiate. The family will receive friends from 4 PM to 7 PM Tuesday. Interment in Grandview Cemetery in Johnstown, PA will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mike’s honor may be sent to the family at 22115 Back Rd. Doylesburg, PA 17219.
