Mildred “Millie” (Forster) Henninger, 90, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at home on Thursday June 23, 2016. Born January 26, 1926 in Mahanoy City, PA. Daughter of the late Nicholas and Matilda Forster, she is preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Harry Henninger. She moved to the area 29 years ago from Woodbridge, NJ where she raised her family. Dedicated to her faith, she was a member of Corpus Christi Church, where she was an active member in the Young at Heart club and Requiem Choir. Millie was an avid Rummikub, Pinochle and Scrabble player. Well known for her beautiful crochet work, she could always be found with a “needle” and yarn in hand. Millie’s greatest joy and life’s work was her devotion to her family and grandchildren, playing an active role in raising them. A true matriarch, her spunk, love and presence will be greatly missed by all.
She is survived by her daughters, Dolores (Larry) Unger of Helmetta, NJ and Debra (Brian) Peters of Chambersburg, PA. Granddaughters, Amanda (Andrew) Troelsen of Minneapolis, MN, Christina (John) Miller and Regina (David) Henry both of Chambersburg, PA and two great-grandchildren, Soren Troelsen and Nicholas Henry. Millie is also survived by her sister, Catherine Karvois of Chambersburg, PA, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by brothers, William, Joseph, Charles, Harry, James and Gerald and sisters, Agnes and Geraldine.
A public viewing will be held Sunday, June 26, 2016, from 6-8 pm at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 1:00 PM on Monday, June 27, 2016, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 320 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17201. Entombment services will be held at 1pm on Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at St. Gertrude Good Shepard Mausoleum, Colonia, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Corpus Christi Catholic Church at the above address.
