Mildred Marie “Mickey” Marrone, 95, of Penn Hall Nursing Center, Chambersburg, PA, went to Heaven on June 25, 2015. Born July 12, 1919, in Beckley, WV, she was the daughter of the late Rufus B. and Minnie Jane Cox Lilley. She was the wife of the late John D. Marrone of Chambersburg, who died on August 21, 2007.
Mrs. Marrone worked in the shipyards in Baltimore, MD during WWII. She relocated to Bristol, CT in 1947. She served as a Sunday School teacher, choir member and the committee of the Cradle Roll of Grace Baptist Church in Bristol, CT. Moving to Chambersburg in 1996, she was a member of The Open Door Church.
Surviving are her son, Jerry L. Marrone, and his wife, Patricia, of Chambersburg; two granddaughters, Deborah Cote-Glander (wife of Matthew Glander) of Lynchburg, VA and Pamela Rockwell (wife of Jim Rockwell) of Gettysburg. She is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, David Marrone; grandson, Jeffrey Marrone; three sisters; and one brother.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 29, 2015 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral and Cemation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Mike Sanders, of The Open Door Church, will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Park Lawns Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Fellowship Hall Building Fund at The Open Door Church, 600 Miller St., Chambersburg, PA, 17202.
