Mildred K. Spielman, age 87, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away on Saturday, April 04, 2015 at Falling Spring Nursing and Rehab Center. Born January 10, 1928 in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Lester and Mary C. Eberly Eckenrode.
A homemaker most of her adult life, she enjoyed gardening, knitting, crocheting, singing, and playing the organ. She was a member of King Street Church, the Women of the Moose, and the Golden Age Club.
Surviving are four children, Gerald E. Spielman (wife Mary Bywaters Spielman) of Chambersburg; Larry E. Spielman (wife Marilyn) of Chambersburg, Gary L. “Butch” Spielman of Greencastle, and Rebecca Denham of Chambersburg; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and four siblings, Donna Hawk, Linda Hollinshead, Russell Eckenrode, and Richard Eckenrode. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold E. Spielman in 1993, a grandson, Joseph Spielman, and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at 10 AM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA, where Rev. Paul B. Baker will officiate. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 7 from 6 – 8 PM in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to King Street Church, 162 East King St., Chambersburg, PA 17201 or to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 5051 Letterkenny Rd. West, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
