Tuesday afternoon, August 9, 2022 our family lost an extraordinary woman, our Mother, Mildred L. Tayman, of Chambersburg. Born December 24, 1934 in Derby, VA, she was a daughter of the late Luther and Flo (Phillips) Wells. Her passing was sudden and unexpected. We are all heartbroken and still trying to accept that she is gone. Family was everything to her. She was a remarkable mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her love for her family was endless and unconditional. She was truly an angel on earth, and one of the finest women you could ever know, or hope to know. Her presence is already deeply missed, and though we can take comfort in knowing she is at peace in Heaven, reunited with her husband, we will always love and miss her.
She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 62 years, Edward J Tayman, whom she married on October 17, 1953. She is survived by her three children, Susan C. Tayman of Salisbury, MD, Mary F. Tayman (Malcolm Harris) of Chambersburg, and Joseph D. Tayman of Fayetteville, PA; six grandsons, Brian Tayman (Lisa), Joseph Hall, Justin Hall (Nina Lachewitz), Timothy Nutwell (Ai), Mark Nutwell (Renee) and Joey Nutwell (Virginia Nolan); seven great-grandchildren, Seth, Scott, Shelby and Shannon Tayman; Michael and Alyssa Nutwell; and Evelyn Nutwell; and three siblings, Sylvia McGhee, Barbara Wells, and Alan Wells (Lorrine), all of VA. Aside from her parents and husband, Mildred was preceded in death by her brother, Henry Wells.
A funeral service to honor Mildred’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Private interment will be at Corpus Christi Cemetery with the family only.
