Miles R. “Bob” Hockensmith, Jr., age 86, of Chambersburg, PA passed away on Monday, October 1, 2012at his home. Born June 19, 1926 in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Miles R. Hockensmith, Sr.and the late Rachael Coy Hockensmith.

A US Navy veteran, Bob served honorably during WWII from 1943 until 1946, including 21 months in theSouth Pacific with the Carrier Aircraft Services unit as a second class petty officer. He went on to workat Letterkenny Army Depot for 33 years retiring in 1979 as a supervisor in Land Management. He wasa life member of the VFW Post 1599, American Legion Post 46, Moose Lodge #842, the Marine CorpsLeague, the Chambersburg Club, and the Elks Lodge #600. He was also a member of AMVETS post 224,James Chambers Lodge 801 F. & A. M., the Harrisburg Consistory, Harrisburg Shrine Zembo Temple, 40et 8 Club Local 509, and NARFE Chapter 1063. Bob also enjoyed working out and golf.

Surviving are his children, Miles “Bobby” Hockensmith III (wife Karen “Sis”) of Leesburg, VA and
Ginger R. Baldyga of San Francisco, CA; three grandchildren, Miles R. Hockensmith IV of Largo, FL,
Eric A. Hockensmith (wife Kristi) of Leesburg, VA, and Corey L. Hockensmith (wife Colleen) of Lithia,
FL; four great grandchildren, Miles, Zoe, Reid, and Nolan; and one brother, John L. Hockensmith
of Chambersburg, PA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty P.
Hockensmith in 2004.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 5, 2012 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel
Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA; where Rev. Paul
B. Baker will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday, October 4, 2012 from 7:00 until
9:00 PM in the funeral home, with a Masonic Service at 8:00 PM. Interment will follow the service
in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, where members of the Charles Nitterhouse VFW Honor Guard
will provide Military Honors.
