Millard A. “Pete” Cooper, Jr., 68, of Fayetteville, PA, died Thursday morning, May 23, 2013 at his home. Born June 10, 1944 in Scotland, PA, he was a son of Gwendolyn Traxler Cooper of Fayetteville, and the late Millard A. Cooper, Sr. Pete was a 1962 graduate of the Chambersburg Area Senior High School and retired in 1993 from Letterkenny Army Depot where he had been employed for 28 years. He last worked at Oscar M. Hykes Post 223 American Legion in Shippensburg.
He was a member of the Veterans of Vietnam War Post 41, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 842, Marine Corps League #450, and Hume-McNeil-Byers AMVETS Post 224, all in Chambersburg, as well as Oscar M. Hykes Post 223 American Legion, Minnequa Club #375, and Durff-Kuhn Post 6168 VFW, all in Shippensburg. He enjoyed taking care of his home and working in his garage. His hobbies included hunting and feeding birds and other animals.
Pete is survived by his wife, Elsie Shope Cooper, whom he married June 14, 1969; two sons, Scott E. Cooper, his companion Leslie Culbertson, and Leslie’s daughter Rylie Culbertson, and David A. Cooper and his wife Roxanne; as well as his grandson, Tyler Cooper, all of Fayetteville. He is also survived by two brothers, William D. Cooper and Joseph P. Cooper and wife Vickie, all of Fayetteville; two sisters, Linda Baker and husband Clarence of Upper Strasburg and Rose Hunter of Orlando, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
