Minerva M. Ojanen, 83, of Quincy, PA and formerly of Fayetteville, passed away on Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at Quincy Village. Born May 19, 1935 in Letterkenny Township, she was a daughter of the late John C. Forrester and Mary Grace Wenger Forrester.
Minerva was a graduate of the former Chambersburg High School. She began her career as an LPN in the Emergency Department at the Chambersburg Hospital and later was employed as an LPN with Orthopedic Associates in Chambersburg for over 30 years until her retirement in 1998. She was a member of Chambersburg Brethren in Christ Church and the Shining Lights Sunday school class. Minerva was known for her cooking and especially her pies. She also enjoyed crocheting, cross-stitch and canning.
She is survived by her son David C. Forrester and wife Nancy of Greencastle; two grandsons, Bryan J. Forrester and wife Gloria of Greencastle, and Jeremy C. Forrester of Lemasters; two great granddaughters, Samantha and Haylee Forrester; two siblings, Janice Hockenberry of Newburg and John Forrester and wife Charlene of Chambersburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Minerva was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert A. Wagaman in 1974; her second husband, Eugene V. Ojanen in 1999; and two siblings, Bernice McKelvey and Graydon Forrester.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 24, 2018, in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA, 17202. Rev. Kevin Witter will officiate. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Quincy Village Benevolent Fund, 6596 Orphanage Road, Waynesboro, PA 17268.
