Miriam K. Funk, 94, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Wednesday morning, March 25, 2015 at Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born April 18, 1920 in Altoona, she was a daughter of the late Perry J. and Elizabeth Colliflower Kanarr. She was a 1938 graduate of the Altoona High School and retired from the Register and Recorders Office at the Franklin County Courthouse after many years of employment. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, where she served as treasurer of the Elderbower Sunday School Class for many years. She was also a life member of the Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW Ladies Auxiliary, both in Chambersburg. Mrs. Funk enjoyed playing the organ and crocheting. Her husband, David M. Funk, whom she married August 22, 1940, preceded her in death on September 21, 2006.
She is survived by her son, David K. Funk (wife Glenda) of Chambersburg; her daughter, Elaine Reffner (husband Robert) of Chambersburg; three grandchildren, Rob Reffner of Charlottesville, VA, Heather Forsythe (husband Brian) of Chambersburg, and Holly Wagaman (husband Eric) of Chambersburg; and three great-grandchildren, Raven Forsythe, Baron Forsythe, and Cason Wagaman. She is also survived by a sister, La Rue Emerson (husband Clarence) of New Castle, IN. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Kanarr.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM Wednesday, April 1, 2015 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA with Rev. Donald C. Nolder officiating. Interment will follow at Norland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 PM Tuesday and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
