Moses Whitehead

April 30, 1954 — June 3, 2021

Moses Edward Whitehead, 67, of Chambersburg, passed away on June 3, 2021 at York Hospital, born April 30, 1954 in Bartow, FL, he was the son of Rosetta Carter Whitehead and the late Andrew Whitehead.

Moses was employed as a supervisor at Pet-Ritz in Chambersburg and later at Schreiber Foods in Shippensburg, retiring from both corporations. Moses was an avid fisherman. There’s a saying, “Gone Fishing!” Well, everyone knew that saying applied to Moses, since he loved to fish and was always seeking out the biggest catfish that he could find. Moses would bring that fish home, filet it and cook up a nice meal for his family.

Moses loved to listen to music and travel with his wife Kathryn down the eastern seaboard to his home state of Florida to visit with friends and family. Moses truly loved the scenery of Pennsylvania and would go for a car ride to see what the local fruit was looking like for that season.

Moses was particular about detailing his car; he took pride in keeping it showroom ready, both inside and out. His true pride and joy was in his grandchildren, this is when you would hear his heartiest laughter and see his biggest smile.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Kathryn E. Jones Whitehead, whom he married in 1979; two sons, Anthony Whitehead of Phoenix, AZ, and Charles Whitehead of York, PA; four grandchildren, Corina, Tiana M., Zion C., and Quincy D. Whitehead; six siblings, Joseph, Mary, Emma Jean, Henry, Daniel, and James Whitehead; a sister-in-law, Karen Jones; and fourteen nieces and nephews, Jamill, Akea, Ronnell, Latasha, Breonna, Adrionna, Quinton, Xavier, Tymere, Angelia, Victoria, Drew, and Lance Whitehead and Darnell Johnson.

A Zoom memorial service will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg, PA.

The Whitehead family would like to thank everyone for their love and support and would also like to thank all of the medical professionals that really did all that they could.

Condolences may be offered on his Book of Memories page at geiselfuneralhome.com.
