Nancy Bender

Nancy G. Bender, 73, of Chambersburg, passed away at 11:29 AM Saturday, March 19, 2011 at Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born November 2, 1937 in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late Harold Theodore, Sr. and Mary Catherine Kegerreis Rosenberry. Nancy was a 1955 graduate of the Chambersburg High School and went on to graduate from nursing school. A licensed practical nurse, she retired from the South Mountain Restoration Center in 1993 where she had been employed for 26 years. She attended Greenwood Assembly of God and was a member of the Angels of Mercy Red Hats. Nancy was an avid bingo player and enjoyed spending time reading, crocheting, and cooking.

She is survived by her loving husband, Paul S. Bender, whom she married June 22, 1957; her son, Jody L. Bender and wife Corinne; two daughters, Kathy Jo Colon and husband Juan, and Paula Kay Ortega and husband Aaron, all of Fayetteville; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Harold Rosenberry, Jr. and wife Barb of Lemasters; and two sisters, Sharon Guyer and husband Arthur of Chambersburg and Kim Brown and husband Dave of Chambersburg. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald and Terry Rosenberry.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, March 23, 2011 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. Pastor Jim Thomas will officiate. Interment will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
