Nancy Lee Hammond Hockenberry, 81, of Fannettsburg, PA, passed away Friday morning, May 19, 2023 at her home. Born February 16, 1942 in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late G. Andrew and A. Louise Walker Hammond. Nancy was a 1960 graduate of the Fannett-Metal High School and worked at Mountain Lake Camp, Howard Johnson on the turnpike, and the Dixie Restaurant in Greencastle. She later went to work at the Franklin County Treasurer’s Office where she was employed for 34 years and worked under four County Treasurers. She served as Deputy Treasurer for 32 years and retired in 2006. Nancy was a Life Member of the Metal Township Fire and Ambulance Company. She enjoyed Sudoku, Word Search, feeding birds, and watching humming birds. She liked to take her grand-dog Maddie for car rides until she quit driving. Nancy loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and attending their activities. Her husband, Robert K. Hockenberry, Sr. whom she married December 3, 1960, preceded her in death on April 14, 2014.
She is survived by her daughter, Eloise Jones (Michael, Sr.) of Ft. Loudon; her son, Robert K. Hockenberry, Jr. (Sharon) of Willow Hill; four grandsons, Michael Jones, Jr. (Laura), Eric Robert Jones (Amanda), Taylor Robert Hockenberry (Carrie), all of Ft. Loudon, and Tanner Lee Hockenberry (Kylee) of Willow Hill; nine great-grandchildren, Easton, Garrett, Miranda, Anna Rose, Joseph Robert, Cora Marie, Jacob Doulgas Jones, all of Ft. Loudon, and Liam and Kade Hockenberry of Willow Hill. Also surviving are her sister, Linda Miller (Marvin), her brother, Daniel Hammond (Bridgette) all of Chambersburg; and her aunt, Betty Lee Keefer of Ft. Loudon. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Tyler Jones, and a nephew, Danny Hammond.
At Nancy’s request, there will be no service. Private interment will be in Lower Path Valley Cemetery.
