Nancy Travers

Nancy L. Travers, age 70, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2014 at her home. Born December 30, 1943 in Waynesboro, she was a daughter of the late Donald and Louise Barnes Haley.

A 1960 graduate of Bishop McDevitt High School, Nancy worked as a supervisor at J. Schoeneman Company for 34 years until her retirement in 1997. She then worked at Everlasting Love Florist for several years. Nancy enjoyed being with her grandchildren, traveling, and spending time with the “Lunch Bunch”.

She is survived by her spouse and partner of 34 years, Dennis Travers, whom she married on July 30, 1982; three children, Joyce Needy (Tammy Bailey), Phillip Needy, and Katrina Houser (Brian), all of Chambersburg; eight grandchildren, Forrest Needy, Haley Wise, Ryan Bailey, Alisse Bailey, Shelby Gress, Courtney “Mini Me” Gress, Tyler Houser, and Brad Houser; numerous nieces and nephews; and Rick and Katie Grove, who are a significant part of her extended family. Aside from her parents, Nancy is preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Haley.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, October 10, 2014 at Norland Cemetery, 2295 Philadelphia Ave. Chambersburg, PA 17201. Chaplain Robert Keener will officiate. The family will receive friends at 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. At the family’s request, floral tributes may be made through Everlasting Love Florist.
