Naomi Tubbs Finch, 97, of Bluffton, SC, passed away Saturday afternoon, October 20, 2012 at NHC Assisted Living in Bluffton. Born July 10, 1915 in Buffalo, NY, she was a daughter of the late William Collins and Frances Sacher Tubbs. A homemaker most of her life, Mrs. Finch fellowshipped at Greenwood Hills Bible Chapel in Fayetteville, PA and lived her faith every day of her life. During her lifetime she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Pioneer Girls, and weekly bible class at a girls’ reformed school. She was active with the Life’s Key birthday card ministry until age 94. Her husband, William P. “Bill” Finch, whom she married October 10, 1936 in Athens, NY, preceded her in death on May 28, 1988.
She is survived by five children, Myrtle Finch of Pittsboro, NC, Joyce Yorgey of Fayetteville, PA, Peter Finch and wife Marilyn of Chattanooga, TN, Sharon Luke and husband Tim of Fulton, NY, and Ruth Finch of Bluffton, SC; ten grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and her daughter-in-law, Margaret Smith Finch of Round Rock, TX. She is also survived by three siblings, Edith Kittler of Rhinebeck, NY, Eleanor Brooks of Athens, NY, and George Tubbs and wife Martha of Taccoa, GA. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a son, William Paul Finch, Jr. in 1989; an infant daughter; Shirley; her grandson, Andrew Luke; and her great-granddaughter, Naveah Finch.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, October 26, 2012 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Interment will follow at Norland Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service.
