Naomi Rowe

January 24, 1933 — June 28, 2017

Naomi Brubaker Rowe, 84, of Chambersburg, PA and formerly of Jessup, MD, passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at Penn Hall Nursing Center. Born January 24, 1933 in Lancaster, PA, she was a daughter of the late Jonas E. and Naomi S. Brubaker. Her beloved husband, Robert C. Rowe, preceded her in death on March 26, 2016.

A 1949 graduate of Lancaster Mennonite School, Naomi was a homemaker and a pastor’s wife. She and her husband were also foster parents for 15 children over the years. She hosted many Good News Bible Clubs for the neighborhood children. Naomi loved reading, gardening and tending to her flowerbeds. She was the “neighborhood grandma” and always had homemade popsicles for the children. Naomi was a member of New Life Mennonite Church in Ellicott City, MD. She had two great grandsons, Jackson and Gavin, born within 24 hours after her death. “The Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.” Job: 1:21.

She is survived by four children, Shirley A. Lehman (Donald) of Quarryville, PA, David E. Rowe (Deni) of Dayton, MD, Sharon L. Yoder of Chambersburg, PA, and Rebecca J. Sauder (Steve) of Mercersburg, PA; eleven grandchildren; four great grandchildren, Alexis, Asher, Jackson and Gavin; three siblings, Martin Brubaker (Arlene) of Mt. Joy, Ruth Yovanovich (Bill) of Elizabethtown, and Benjamin Brubaker (Bertha) of Manheim. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by two siblings, Elizabeth Brubaker and Jonas Brubaker, Jr.; and her son-in-law, Dale E. Yoder.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Chaplain Brenda Doyle will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 9:30 – 11:00 on Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Menno Haven Benevolent Care: Menno Haven Inc., c/o Menno Haven Gift Planning Services, 2011 Scotland Ave. Chambersburg, PA 17201.
