Nathan ‘Nate’ Samuel Eshleman, 87, of Chambersburg, PA, was released to the arms of Jesus by his family on Friday, January 7, 2022 at Providence Place Senior Living. Born September 4, 1934 in Smithsburg, MD, he was a son of the late Ralph M. Eshleman, Sr. and Ruth I. Martin Eshleman.
Nate was a 1952 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School. He was employed as a truck driver at Horn’s Motor Express for 20 years and later at Grove Manufacturing for 10 years until his retirement. He was a member of Chambersburg Church of the Brethren. Throughout the years, Nate enjoyed attending auctions and gospel music events with his wife, attending his grandsons’ sports and music events, going to car shows with his son-in-law, and having meals out with friends. He also volunteered at his church, Providence Place Senior Living, and Menno Haven. Nate was the best husband, father and grandfather, and a friend to all he met. He will be dearly missed and forever remembered as a kind, gentle man with a fun sense of humor and smile to share.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Janet M. Rotz Eshleman, whom he married on April 22, 1956; one daughter, Erin E. Blaine (Jeffrey) of Mechanicsburg; two grandchildren, Jared Nathan Blaine and Aidan Samuel Blaine; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Nate is preceded in death by three brothers, Omer L. Eshleman, Mahlon D. Eshleman and Ralph M. Eshleman, Jr.
Services will be private. Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Association, or to Chambersburg Church of the Brethren.
