Nelle Mummert

Nelle M. Mummert, 81, of Chambersburg, passed away with her family by her side on Tuesday, July 6, 2021. Born August 2, 1939 in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late Laban H. and Eleanor K. Brubaker Stoner. Her beloved husband, Glenn K. Mummert, preceded her in death on July 17, 2005.

Nelle was a 1957 graduate of CASHS. Early in her life she worked at her family’s business, Stoner’s Drive-In, and later with Sheetz for 37 years until her retirement on October 30, 2020. Nelle enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed her customers at Sheetz.

She is survived by two children, Sharon K. Scott (husband Randall), and Douglas H. Mummert (wife Zoe), both of Chambersburg; four grandchildren, Brandon, Shane, Kayla and Jared; five great grandchildren; and her sister, Eleanor J. Brindle (husband William) of Chambersburg. Aside from her parents and husband, Nelle was preceded in death by siblings, Doris, Anna, Celia, Esther; and two infant siblings, Donna and Harold.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 9, 2021 at Solomon’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4856 Wayne Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Rev. Bill Nienstedt will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Grindstone Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Solomon’s Evangelical Lutheran Church at the above address to benefit their Relay for Life team.
