Nellie S. Pensinger, 73, a resident at the South Mountain Restoration Center, South Mountain, PA, and formerly of Fayetteville, died Saturday morning, May 24, 2014 at the Restoration Center. Born March 11, 1941 in Fayetteville, she was a daughter of the late William H. and Maude Peck Thomas. A homemaker most of her life, Nellie attended Mt. Union United Methodist Church in Fayetteville. She liked playing Bingo, loved vacationing in Clearfield County, and especially enjoyed spending time with her family. Her husband, John W. “Shorty” Pensinger, Jr., whom she married December 29, 1962, preceded her in death on October 30, 2008.
She is survived by five children, Clarence “Will” Pensinger and wife Rose of Chambersburg, Debra J. Henry and husband Steve of Chambersburg, Pam J. Wagaman and husband Tony of Fayetteville, Doris J. Beecher and husband Glenn Jr. of Fayetteville, and Thelma J. Pensinger, of Chambersburg; nine grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and nine step great-grandchildren. Also surviving are six sisters, Mary McCleaf of Hagerstown, MD, Mae Reed and Ruth Juray of Chambersburg, Grace Heckman of Fayetteville, Blanche Thomas of Fayetteville, and Marie Thomas of Chambersburg; and two brothers, James L. and Frank C. Thomas, both of Fayetteville. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers and six sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM Wednesday, May 28, 2014 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg with Rev. Alan Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:30-11:30 AM Wednesday at the funeral home.
