Nikolaos P. Panagos, age 75, of Fayetteville, PA passed away unexpectedly on Friday morning, June 5th, 2015 at Hershey Medical Center. Born October 6, 1939 in Neohorion, Nafpaktias, Greece, he was a son of the late Periklis and Olga Livaditis Panagos.
Nikolaos was the owner/operator of George and Nick’s Chicken House in Chambersburg and Roadster’s Diner until he retired in 2005. In his retirement, he enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, growing fruit trees, and playing cards. Nikolaos’ life was the definition of the “American Dream”. He was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Camp Hill, PA and the Syllogos Neohoritan/Greek Committee.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Georgia Kalathas Panagos, whom he married on November 30, 1963; four children, Olga Panagos Kriska, and Periklis, Kalliopi and Maria Panagos, all of Fayetteville; two grandsons, Niko Panagos and Aidyn “Niko” Galer; and five siblings, George Panagos (wife Mary), Tom Panagos (wife Vasiliki), Dorothy Loukopoulos, Helen Kalathas, and Vasiliki Lamnatos, all of Chambersburg. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son-in-law, Joe Kriska.
A funeral service to honor Nikolaos’ life will be held at 12:00 PM on Monday, June 8, 2015 in St. Mary Orthodox Church, 2063 Lincoln Way E, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Father Mark Lichtenstein will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Lincoln Cemetery. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the church on Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Orthodox Church at the above address. Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA.
