Okey Brumfield

March 21, 1947 — March 3, 2012

Okey Arthur Brumfield, Jr., age 64, of Fayetteville, PA; passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at the VA Medical Center in Martinsburg, WV. Born on March 21, 1947 in Gilbert, WV, Okey was the son of the late Florence and Okey A. Brumfield. Sr.

A U.S. Army veteran, Okey served his country honorably in Vietnam from 1964-1973. He worked as a painter, enjoyed hunting, and was an avid New York Yankees fan. A member of American Legion Post #612 in St. Thomas, and Veterans of Vietnam War Post #41 in Chambersburg, Okey was involved in the effort to place the Vietnam War Veterans Memorial which is located alongside the fountain in Chambersburg square.

He is survived by his three sons, Travis of Chambersburg, PA, Brian of KY, and Jonathan Brumfield of WV; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at Shippensburg Church of the Brethren, 253 East Garfield Street Shippensburg, PA 17257. Rev. Harold E. Yeager will officiate. Interment at Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery will be private. Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA.
