Olive H. Crittenden, 95, of Chambersburg, PA, passed Monday morning, October 12, 2015 at ManorCare Health Services. Born April 14, 1920 in Uvilla, WV, she was a daughter of the late Preston and Sarah Branson Morris. Olive was a member of Unity In Christ Church in Chambersburg where she held various teaching positions and was active with the UICC Missionaries, the Bible Release program, and the Good News Club. She enjoyed attending the Senior Center in Chambersburg and her hobbies included ceramics, sewing, and baking cakes and pies. Even at her age, she enjoyed keeping up with the news and current events. Olive always had a wonderful sense of humor. She was very gracious, warm and welcoming. Her husband, Hugh Crittenden, Sr., preceded her in death on May 2, 2005.
She is survived by her son, Hugh Crittenden, Jr.; two daughters, Bessie E. Thompson and Toynettie Crittenden, all of Chambersburg; three grandchildren, Linda Garner, Monique Jackson, and Tracy Crittenden; four great-grandchildren, Nicole Garner, Christina Turner, Carla Jackson, and Gabby Garner, a sister, Parthenia Lee; and her special friend, Shirley Fithugh. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Corinne Adams and Nannie Collozo; and two brothers, Preston and Calvin Morris.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Monday, October 19, 2015, in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Dr. Lois A. Waters will officiate. Interment will follow at Lebanon Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
