P. Joseph Musser, age 74, of Orrstown, PA, passed away on Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born November 25, 1943, in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Paul J. and Pearl E. Wingert Musser.
A retired dairy farmer in Lurgan Township, Joe was involved in many farm and county organizations. He was a member of the Franklin County Farm Bureau, serving on the Board of Directors; two years as Vice President and four years as President. He was also on the PA State Farm Bureau Board of Directors for eight years. He served on the Franklin County Farm Service Agency, the Franklin County Agricultural Extension Board, and the Franklin County Area Development Corporation. Joe was a member of the Mowersville Brethren in Christ Church. He was previously a member of the Air Hill Brethren in Christ Church, where he served in many capacities, including as a Sunday School Superintendent for many years, on the church board and as a church trustee. He was also a member of the Gideons International and served on the Board of Directors at the Christian Retreat Center in East Waterford, PA.
Surviving is his loving wife of 51 years, Doris A. Myers Musser, whom he married November 5, 1966, three sons, Brian J. Musser (wife Alice) of Shippensburg, PA, Dennis A. Musser (wife Kelly) of Shippensburg, PA, and Ivan E. Musser (wife Lorena) of Newburg, PA; five grandchildren, Amanda, Brenna, Anelise, Dannika, and Blake Musser; one great-grandson, Mason Musser; one brother, Nelson (Kathy) Musser, of Chambersburg; four sisters, Sylvia (Ralph) Hock, of Shippensburg, Roberta (Richard) Rill of Harvest, AL, Fay (Jim Banzoff) Musser of Chambersburg, and Miriam (Ken) Anderson, Durham, PA; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 16, 2018, at 10:30 AM at Air Hill Brethren in Christ Church, 7041 Cumberland Highway, Chambersburg, PA 17202, where Pastor David Halteman will officiate. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 15, 2018, from 5 – 7 PM in the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions go to the Gideons International, P.O. Box 464, Shippensburg, PA 17257 or the Christian Retreat Center, 369 CRC Drive, East Waterford, PA 17021.
