Patricia Sweeney

Patricia Louise Sweeney, age 65, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on March 20, 2014. Born November 23, 1948, she was the daughter of Robert R. Sweeney and the late Dorothea Stains Sweeney.
Patricia graduated with her bachelor’s in Library Science in 1970 from Mansfield University; she went on to earn her master’s degree from Shippensburg University in 1976. An elementary school librarian for the Chambersburg Area School District for 37 years, she retired in 2007. In addition to her love of books and reading, she enjoyed doing ceramics, traveling, and her volunteer work at The Old Jail and the Capital Theatre. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and also served as a volunteer for the church when needed. Patricia was active in the Alpha Delta Kappa Women's Educational Sorority, which she served as State President, two terms as Chapter President, and on various positions for the local chapter.
In addition to her father, she is survived by a sister, Deborah Fetterhoff, a niece, Shannon F. Gotberg (husband Pete), a nephew, Sean Freeman, and his wife Robin, and seven great nieces and nephews.
A Memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at 6 PM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will be private.
