Patricia A. West

Patricia A. West, 97, of Chambersburg, passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at Menno Haven Chambers Pointe. Born April 21, 1927, in Scotland, PA, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Eva Raifsnider Hoover. Her beloved husband of 67 years, Charles E. West, whom she married on April 19, 1949, preceded her in death on July 20, 2016.

Patricia was a graduate of the former Chambersburg High School. She then attended Gettysburg College and earned her teaching degree from Shippensburg University. She was employed as a fourth grade teacher at Coldbrook Elementary School from 1970 – 1989 until her retirement. She was a long-time member of the former 2nd Lutheran Church in Chambersburg. Patricia loved spending time with her family, attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and their yearly trips to Long Beach, NC. She also enjoyed craft shows and traveling, having been to Germany twice and Alaska.

She is survived by two children, G. Diane Roland (Ronald), and Christine Ellen Helman, both of Chambersburg; three grandchildren, James Roland of Front Royal, VA, Jeremy Helman (Liza) of Chambersburg, and Adam Helman (Danielle) of Fayetteville; four great grandchildren; and two step-great grandchildren. Aside from her parents and husband, Patricia was preceded in death by three siblings, Butch Hoover, Raymond Hoover, and Betty Miller.

Private services will be held at the Chambers Pointe Chapel. Chaplain Brenda Doyle will officiate. Interment will be in Norland Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, CHambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 5051 Letterkenny Road W., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
