Patsy A. Myers Miller Thomson, age 67, of Chambersburg, PA; passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 in the Chambersburg Hospital. Born June 28, 1944 in Newport News, VA; she was the daughter of the late Merrell L. and Ellen Mae Woodall Adams. Patsy was raised by her grandparents, the late William L. and Victoria Carter Adams of Monroe, VA.
A nurse all of her working life, Patsy was educated at the University of Virginia and St. Joseph College in North Windham, ME, as well as Lynchburg General Hospital. Patsy retired in 1991 after 23 ½ years of service from the Chambersburg Hospital as an Associate Director of Nursing; prior to that she was an instructor at the Lynchburg General Hospital school of Nursing. She received her National Certification in Nursing Administration from the American Nurses Association. She is a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority both locally and nationally; she was a past member of the Hospital Association of PA; the PA organization of Nurse Executives; and the South Central Organization of Nursing Executives.
Surviving are her children, Marlin Lee Myers and Michelle Lynn “Missy” Myers Raifsnider both of Chambersburg; two grandchildren; two half-sisters, Gail Lawson of Hartley DE and Wanda Laramore of Wilmington, DE; two half brothers, Lewis White of Wilmington, DE and Dennis White of Wilmington, DE; and a brother in law, Donald Myers and wife Debbie of Harrisburg, PA. In addition to her parents and grandparents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Marlin W. Myers and third husband Alvin D. “Tommy” Thomson.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 8, 2011 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA; with Rev. Clint Bingaman officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 7, 2011 from 7-9 PM and on Friday one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens.
