Paul E. Carlin, age 85, of Chambersburg, PA passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, August 22, 2022. Born January 4, 1937, in Todd Township, PA, he was the son of the late Nelson James and Dora Steck Carlin.
Mr. Carlin was a 1957 graduate of Fannett-Metal High School. He went on to serve as a communications specialist in the U.S. Army in Berlin, Germany, prior to the Berlin Wall. Mr. Carlin enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, photography, traveling to see different lighthouses and NASCAR Races with his wife, Betty prior to her passing. He also enjoyed tinkering with things, building and helping with various projects. Mr. Carlin tended to be a perfectionist with his projects. He donated regularly to the American Red Cross during their blood drives.
Surviving is his son, Timothy E. Carlin (wife Christie) of Fayetteville, PA, two grandsons, Joshua and Jacob Carlin, and two sisters, Kay Shearer and Sandra Dinsmore. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Betty Lea Carlin in 2015 and two siblings, Jack Carlin and Rosalie Cunningham.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2022, at 10 AM in Union Cemetery, McConnellsburg, PA, where Rev. Lester F. Stine will officiate. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 26, 2022, from 6 – 8 PM at the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA 17202. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to Meals on Wheels, 43 W. Washington St., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
