Paul F. Cole, 88, a resident at The Village of Laurel Run, Fayetteville, PA, died at 11:50PM Thursday, August 18, 2011 in the nursing home. Born March 14, 1923 at Black’s Gap near Fayetteville, he was a son of the late Leroy I. and Harriett A. Carbaugh Cole. Early in his life Paul worked alongside his father and brother building homes. He later owned and operated Cole’s Home Improvements on Broad Street in Chambersburg which later became Keystone Building Products.
He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council #1426. Paul was a charter member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #842 and a member of the Vietnam Veterans Club. He had a great love of animals.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruth W. Cole, on June 16, 1992, he is survived by three children, Harriett C. Sher and husband Richard B. of Virginia, Katherine R. Hawbaker of Florida, and Frances C. Koller and husband Kevin of Roxbury, PA; seven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; a great-great granddaughter; a number of nieces and nephews; and his long-time K-9 companion, Sparky. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Bernard Cole, and two infant sisters who died at birth.
Services and interment will be private.
