Pauline E. Bowers, 79, of Chambersburg, passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Menno Haven. Born May 21, 1936 in Greencastle, PA, she was the daughter of the late Alvie and Catherine M. Suffecool Leininger.
Pauline was a 1954 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School. She was employed as an office manager at Bon-Ton until her retirement in 1994 after 14 years of service. She was a travel coordinator for AARP #2840 and traveled all over the world. She was a member of Chambersburg First Church of God and served as a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity. Pauline was a lover of Gospel Music. She also enjoyed flower gardening, but her grandchildren were her passion.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, William “Bill” Bowers, Jr., whom she married on June 25, 1955; three children, Karen Methner and husband David of Orrstown, Kelly Bowers and husband David of Chambersburg, and Keith Bowers and wife Shelly of Chambersburg; and five grandchildren, Christina Methner of Orrstown, Amanda Bowers of Chambersburg, Austin Fogal of Chambersburg, Katherine Knight and husband Jordan of Greencastle, and Spencer Bowers of Chambersburg.
A memorial service to honor Pauline’s life will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Chaplain Robert Keener will officiate. Inurnment will follow the service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
