Anna Pearl (Reamer) Hartzell died on Sunday, March 13, 2016 at Menno Haven. She was born May 29, 1922, the daughter of the late J. Harvey and Ethel Eckenrode Reamer. She was the last surviving member of her family. Her husband, George T. Hartzell preceded her in 1999.
Pearl graduated from Penn State Mont Alto in 1975, with an associate degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences. She was a long-term member of St. John's UCC in Chambersburg, where she taught Sunday School for 13 years. For many years she was a faithful working supporter of St. John's Camp in Cowan's Gap. After her husband's sudden death, she ably carried on the business of the Hartzell Construction Company for a number of years. In 2006, she deeded a gift of property to the Chambersburg Area School District for the new Fayetteville Elementary School and dedicated the library in memory of her husband, George.
Surviving are her three daughters: Elaine Nagle (John) of Cary, NC, Susan Rosenberry (Jeffery) of Fayetteville, PA and Anita MacNeill (Jack) of Lynchburg, VA; her grandchildren, Kristen Mouritsen, Gretchen Nagle, David Perry, Timothy Perry, Lindsay MacNeill, and Joshua MacNeill; her step-grandchildren, Shelly Rosenberry Long and Chad Rosenberry; and her great grandchildren, Kieren and Sofia Mouritsen, Samantha, Caitlin, and Blake Perry: Sarah Grace Perry. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Jane Hartzell Moyle and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held in her honor on Thursday, March 17, 2016, at 11:00 am at St. John’s United Church of Christ 1811 Lincoln Way East. Chambersburg, PA, where Pastor Mark Ruzicka and Rev. Dr. John R. Nagle will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will follow the service in Lincoln Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA. If desired, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the charity of one's choice. The family would like to express their gratitude to those who cared for Pearl over the years.
